      The prop. EMPIRE, bound for Clayton, N.Y., struck a shoal Friday morning and leaked so badly that she had to be beached on St. John's Island, Lake Ontario.

      The prop. EMPIRE is reported sunk at Gananoque. Tug CRUSADER, with 2 steam pumps was sent to her relief from Oswego. It was supposed she struck a rock.

      Kingston, July 12 - This morning a boat arrived for the assistance of the N.T. Co's propeller EMPIRE, which struck in the river last night and was beached. She was bound to Ogdensburg with grain, and is partly filled with water. A propeller with steam pumps was sent for this morning.
