April 14, 1868 - Propeller GENESEE CHIEF, burned at Crark's dry dock, Detroit; Loss $15,000.

      We learn by telegraph to Capt. E.P. Dorr, this morning received, that the prop. GENESEE CHIEF and the schr. REPUBLIC, were burned at Clark's Dry Dock, Detroit, last night, and the schr. J. HAZARD HARTZELL was also badly damaged.

      The prop. GENESEE, which early last spring was so injured by fire as to be rendered useless as a steamer in the future, we notice has been placed into Clark's drydock to be converted into a lumber barge, and when completed will be capavle of carrying some 300,000 ft. She was purchased not long since by Capt. S.B. Grummond, who intends getting her out with the least possible delay. - Detroit Post.
