It is presumed that the route of the great St.Lawrence canal will be along the south shore from Lake St.Francis to Beauharnois. Exertions are now making to cause the selection of that route. The advocates for it represent it can be made for £100,000 less than by Vandreuil. It rejoices us to hear mention made of publick improvements: we dreaded, (as the song says) "we should never see them more." - Monteal Cour.
