Chicago, Oct. 29 - Advices to owners today state that the stmr. CITY OF LONDON is ashore near Detour. The two whaleback barges which the stmr. had in tow escaped going on the beach. The steamer does not seem to be in bad shape, and may be released without material damage if the weather is favorable.
