Welland Canal Navigation - By the following comparative statement of vessels and their cargoes, which haved passed through the Welland Canal, from the opening of navigation this season, up to the 31st of May last, with those of 1841, to the same date, our readers will perceive that there has been an increase of business, which cannot but be highly gratifying to the friends of this noble undertaking; not only, as fulfilling their predicitions of usefulness to the public, as well as profit to the proprietors, but as affording the most conclusive and satisfactory evidence of the necessity and importance of persevering in the extensive improvements now in progress, under the direction of the able engineer appointed by the Board of Works.
