Welland Canal. - Mr. Merritt, member for North Lincoln, arrived in town, from Montreal, on Wednesday, afternoon, and left, on his return, on the same evening. He has been to New York, and has succeeded in getting the consent of the majority of stockholders in the Welland Canal, to agree to the condition for vesting the canal in the public authority, as provided in the act passed at the late sessions of the legislature. - Quebec Gazette
