An investigation will be held respecting the disaster which befel the schooner BAVARIA, of Garden Island, when members of the crew were lost off Duck Island in the spring.

      On May 28 the barge BAVARIA, owned by Calvin & Co., of Garden Island, was lost off Salmon Point.

The tow barge BAVARIA went ashore last night on Galoo Island and 7 were lost. She was in tow of the steamer CALVIN with the VALENTIA and NORWAY, loaded with lumber from Toledo to Garden Island.

NOTE:-- apparently the same vessel went ashore at Goderich in 1891.
