Sault Ste. Marie, Aug. 24 - The steamer FAYETTE BROWN, coal laden and bound up, crashed into the tug CHENEY, tied up at the north pier below the lock this morning. The tug was crushed and sank in 16 ft. of water. Her owners claim she is a total loss. The CHENEY was valued at $6,000 and was owned by J. Hursley of this city.
