MAN LOST - The schooner GERTRUDE lost a man off Manitowoc, by being knocked overboard by the boom. The captain was below at the time, but hurried on deck and lowered a boat. As the boat started from the vessel he was in sight, but before they could reach him he had sunk to rise no more. His name was James Cooby. - Chicago Press.
