The brig GREYHOUND, which left Chicago for Buffalo on Friday, the 16th inst, with a cargo of 13,000 bushels of wheat shipped by Watson & Fox, went ashore at Sheboygan during the gale of Monday last, and will prove a perfect loss. One of the crew, whose name we could not learn, was lost. The wheat was insured in the Buffalo Mutual, and the vessel - which was owned by Lockwood and Kinney, of Buffalo - in some New York Company. The Captain says he left Chicago on the 16th. inst., with a cargo of 13,000 bushels of wheat, consigned to Buffalo; had a good run to within, as he reckoned, sixty miles off the Manitous; but he now thinks he must have been much nearer, on the morning of the 19th, wind suddenly shifted into N. E., blowing great guns; hove to for a number of hours, and then tried to run for a harbor; made Sheboygan Light, but owing to the vessel's drifting, and the rain and darkness, mistook it for Milwaukee Light, which accounts for his being so close into shore; as soon as he found his mistake he endeavored to extricate himself, when the forward canvas gave way; let go anchors and hung on about an hour as above described. Vessel and cargo are probably a total loss. Perhaps part of the rigging may be saved. The vessel was six years old and valued at $15,000.
