The old tug WHITNEY exploded her boilers at Bear Creek yesterday or day before. No serious damage was done, however. The boat was towed to this city by the propeller GLOBE. - Detroit Advertiser.

The T. WHITNEY, built in 1853, could hardly be called "the old tug" but no other vessel named WHITNEY seemed likely ?
