LIFE SAVING STATIONS. - Contracts for the construction of all the stations authorized to be established by act of June 20th, 1874, upon Lakes Ontario, Erie, Huron and Michigan, except at Buffalo and Grosse Point, have been entered in to, and the building of them is rapidly progressing. Sites have been selected for the stations provided for on Lake Superior. Some difficulty has been experienced in obtaining the proper titles to these sites, which has caused some delay in prosecuting the work of construction. The plans and specifications for the buildings are prepared. Stations for Lake Superior will be erected next season. The following statement shows the localities of the several life saving stations and houses of refuge now authorized by law. (The number attached to each locality are the regular numbers of the stations.)

5. Forty Mile Point (Hammond's Bay), Mich.

7. Seven miles west of Vermillion Point, Mich.
8. Two Heart River, Mich.
9. Sucker River, Mich.
1. Beaver Island, Mich. (lifeboat station)
2. North Manitou Island, Mich. (lifeboat station)
3. Point aux Becs Scies, Mich.*
4. Grande P'te au Sable, Mich.
5. Grand Haven, Mich. (lifeboat station)
6. St. Joseph, Mich. (lifeboat station)
7. Chicago, Ill. (lifeboat station)
8. Grosse Point (Evanston)
9. Racine, Wis. (lifeboat station)
10. Milwaukee, Wis. (lifeboat station)
11. Sheboygan, Wis. (lifeboat station)
12. Two Rivers, Wis. (lifeboat station)
