Mackinaw City, Oct. 21. - The steel steamer REPUBLIC, bound down with ore from Escanaba, is ashore on Major Shoal between this point and Mackinac Island. The steamer is on a rock bottom. Water is coming into the bottom. The wrecking
tug FAVORITE has been sent to her.

      REPUBLIC RELEASED. - After lightering about 700 tons of ore, the tug GENERAL released the steamer REPUBLIC from Major Shoals at 4 P.M. yesterday. The steamer is not leaking and will proceed to destination as soon as lightered cargo is released.
