Detroit, Dec. 7. - The steamer JAMES B. COLGATE and the schooner DUVALL collided off Tashmoo Park, St. Clair River, Tuesday night. The schooner drifted down and finally sank near Muir's Landing, the crew escaping in the lifeboat. The steamer was run ashore above Muir's Landing on the Canadian side to prevent her sinking in deep water.

The whaleback steamer J.B. COLGATE, which collided with the schooner DUVALL, Wednesday, afterwards running ashore, was released by the tug BROCKWAY yesterday. About 50 tons of ore was taken out of the forward part of the boat to bring the damage above water. After receiving temporary repairs here, she will proceed to Lake Erie to deliver her cargo.
