Grain Carrier Still Aground on Vidal Shoal

U. S. Coast Guard officials said this morning the Coast Guard cutter Mackinaw was still trying to release the freighter Sullivan Brothers from Vidal Shoal where she grounded Tuesday evening.

The freighter Yankcanuck operated by the Yankcanuck Steamship Company reached the stranded freighter last night and removed some of her cargo. She is standing by the crippled ship at present. The freighter is carrying grain.

Coast Guard officials said this morning that the Sullivan Brothers was resting on solid rock and that her cargo had to be lightered before she could be pulled free. Damage to the ship is believed below the waterline.
