The schooner E.W. RATHBUN from Toledo to Goderich with coal went ashore off the mouth of the river at Goderich Wednesday night and went to pieces. The crew of five men and a woman was rescued. She was owned by Wm. Lee of Goderich.

      Schooner E.W. RATHBUN, of Napanee, 20 years of age and of 149 tons register. On October 14, 1886 when bound from Toledo to Goderich vessel struck the north pier at Goderich and stranded. Classed as a total loss with estimated amount of loss $1,995.
