Full Text

A collision occurred at the State St. bridge, Chicago, yesterday afternoon, between the schr. YORK STATE and the stm. DOUGLASS. The YORK STATE was bound down and the DOUGLASS swung across the stream under her bow so she made the draw. The YORK STATE's jibboom struck the DOUGLASS amidships on the port side and snapped off, after crushing in a portion of the DOUGLASS's deck cabin. The steamboat company will have to foot the damage.
