The Maritime History of the Great Lakes
Prairie State (Propeller), sunk, 31 Oct 1877

Description
Full Text

A correspondent, writing from Port Huron, 30th, say the propeller PRAIRIE STATE, lying in the bone-yard west of Military Street bridge, filled with water Sunday and rolled over on her side. The fire steamer was brought into requisition Monday, but failed to diminish the amount of water. It is evident that there is a good sized hole in her.
