During the gale of Thursday night the barge T.M. RYAN, which went ashore at pt. Abino last fall, together with the McGILVRAY, ORTON and one other, was completely broken to pieces by the wind and ice and is now scattered all along the shore. The McGILVRAY and ORTON which were all blocked and ready for launching, were forced off and carried higher up on the beach.

The barge ORTON, stranded at Pt. Abino is now reported in a better position for launching than she was before the late storm, which knocked her off the ways and drove her further in shore. She is ready for launching, and work has been commenced on the McGILVRAY.

The barges ORTON and McGILVRAY, stranded on the beach at Pt. Abino, have again been blocked up and will be launched as soon as the accumulation of ice on the beach disappears. Mr. Rush, the contractor, says the boats were nearly floated off the blocks a second time by the gale Tuesday, but the ice along the beach broke the force of the waves and saved them.
