Ben Flint (Schooner), U2243, aground, 5 Nov 1861
- Full Text
We received yesterday from Pt. Pelee further particulars relative to the vessels ashore in that vicinity. In addition to the schrs. ORIOLE and NORTH STAR, already reported ashore, there is the W.B. OGDEN and WHITE SQUALL. The brig BANNER was supposed to be the vessel of that class ashore on Pt. Pelee Island, this, however, proves to be incorrect, as the BANNER has since passed up. The schr. CONVOY, which was also stated as one of the number, has arrived at this port. The schr. BEN FLINT is said to be on Chickalom Reef with her colors at half mast. The bark OCEAN WAVE is also somewhere in that vicinity shorn of all her canvass. There is probably not less than 10 or 12 vessels ashore near the island, the names of which have not been received.
