Detroit, June 22. - Just off Bar Point light about 8 o'clock yesterday morning the steamer W.H. GILBERT, bound up light, and the loaded steamer S.S. CURRY, bound down, came together, smashing a large hole in the GILBERT's port bow, extending from her main deck almost to the water line. Her captain, who was on watch, says he took the usual precautions in rounding the Point, and the explanation of the cause of the accident was not learned. The GILBERT was brought back to the Wyandotte yard of the Detroit Shipbuilding Company for repairs. The CURRY continued on to Lorain. Her repair bill will reach $3,000.
