On Tuesday night a collision occurred between the barge MERCURY and schr. J.C. HARRISON about a mile outside Chicago light. Both vessels received quite serious injuries. The schooner lost her bowsprit, jibboom and headgear, and sustained some damage in hull, while the barge had her mainmast broken, rail split and timber head carried away.
