Pocantico (Dredge), sunk, 1 Jun 1912

Description
Full Text

The dredge POCANTICO which sank in Lake Erie on June 11th, 2 miles from the harbor and in the way of vessels using the north entrance, was successfully floated yesterday afternoon and towed inside the breakwall by the tug JAMES REID and the wrecker MAINISTIQUE of the Reid Wrecking fleet of Port Huron.
Wreckers have been at work on the dredge since July. They were delayed by unfavorable eather at first, but made good progress during August. The dredge has been gradually shifted further and further in and now, in the harbor she can be finally repaired irrespective of weather.
The POCANTICO was being towed to Buffalo from Windmill Pt. last June when she filled and sank. He crew was successfully rescued. The Empire Engineering Corp., to whom she belongs, advertised for bids for raising and awarded the job to the Reid Company.
