The steam yacht CATHARINE, at about 11 P. M., on the 17th. July 1890, was lost between Alexandria Bay and Grenadier Island, in the St. Lawrence River, by collision with the American steamer St. LAWRENCE. Four passengers of the CATHARINE were, with her engineer, drowned.
CATHARINE, built 1882 and registered at the port of Kingston, of 10 tons register, sunk half a mile N. E. of Sunken Rock Light, Alexandria Bay, on the American side, the area is between 70 to 120 feet in depth. Used as a passenger steamer on the St. Lawrence River. Propeller of 15 gross tons, Official Can. No. 83288 and 44 x 9.2 x 4.2
