LOST ON THE PICTURED ROCKS.
Steamer MICHAEL GROH a Total Wreck In Lake Superior.
      Crew Had a Narrow Escape.
Munising, Nov. 23. -- The steamer MICHAEL GROH lost her rudder on Lake Superior yesterday morning, and was driven on the rocks at Miner's Castle. She soon pounded to pieces, and is a total wreck. The crew escaped to the shore in safety. She was laden with lumber from Marquette to Cleveland.
When the GROH's rudder was carried away, she was helpless in the trough of the sea. The north wind drove her toward the shore, and at 9 o'clock she struck on the rough shore of the Pictured Rocks. The crew took to the boats and were landed with difficulty. The lost steamer was built at Cleveland in 1867 and is owned by J.T. Johnson of Sandusky, O.
