Bay City, Mich. September 20, 1897. -- The barge LIZZIE P. BETTS, which was recently purchased by H.L. Coman at Marshal's sale, has gone to the bottom at the east end of Third Street bridge and lies deck to. The oakum in her seams came out, letting the hold fill with water. The BETTS is being stripped and may never sail again.
