The Erie Dispatch of Wednesday says: A number of improvements are already being discussed at the lake for next season. Among them will be the removal of the old pier between the beacon light and the fog bell. The beacon tower, which is entirely of iron and was made in France, will be removed to the east end of the north pier, and the fog bell will be placed in the lower portion of the tower. This work will be completed this winter in readiness for the opening of navigation next spring. A new lantern arrived yesterday for use at the beacon light in case of emergency. Such a lantern would have been exceedingly useful last week when the outer beacon was destroyed.
