We learn from the Detroit Free Press that a collision took place on the night of the 14th, just opposite that city, between the propeller SUN and the schooner ANTELOPE. The propeller was bound for this city, and the steam tug DART was bound up with the ANTELOPE on one side and a scow on the other, in tow. The propeller was hugging the Canada shore so closely that the captain thought the DART would pass on the left, but the captain of the DART thought he must pass to the right hand, and in trying to do so, the ANTELOPE and the propeller collided. The propeller was struck on the starboard side, smashing up her guards and upper deck, and carrying away one of her arch-posts, the cabin and pilot house. The bowsprit of the ANTELOPE passed through the cabin and pilot house of the propeller, tearing them all to pieces, and taking away one half of the wheel. The man at the wheel providentially escaped unhurt. The schooner had her jib-boom, bowsprit and cut-water carried away. The propeller lay at Detroit until noon of the 15th, making repairs. She then proceeded on her way to this port, and arrived yesterday. Her captain estimates that it would take fully $1,500 to repair damages. The ANTELOPE is at Woolson's shipyard, Detroit, being repaired.
