The amendment to the seaman's bill now before congress makes it compulsory for vessels of 200 tons to carry four men, 300 tons five men, 350 to 500 tons six men, 500 to 800 tons eight men, 850 to 1,000 tons ten men, and for vessels over 1,000 tons an extra man for each 150 tons of government measurement.
