Marinette, Wis., Nov. 21. -- The steamboat BALDWIN, bound from Green Bay to Buffalo, sank last night off Long Tall Point in Green Bay, ten miles north of this city. In trying to force her way through ice packs, her bottom was pierced and she sank in about eight fathoms of water. Captain Bronson, heard the signals of distress and managed to pull alongside the BALDWIN in time to take off the crew of 12 men and the captain. The BALDWIN was loaded with about half a million feet of lumber.

The propeller S. C. BALDWIN, which was wrecked off Menominee last fall and remained in the ice all winter, is now safely moored in Green Bay harbor. A channel was cut through the ice to take the boat through. She is in bad condition, but temporary repairs will be made and she will be taken to Sturgeon Bay and placed in dry dock. Her hold is full of lumber.
