BODIES OF TUG ESCORT VICTIMS NOT RECOVERED.
St. Catharines, Ont., Jan. 8. - Much praise is being bestowed upon John Wilson of Buffalo, the expert diver who so successfully superintended the work of raising the tug ESCORT, which sank 3-1/2 miles off Port Dalhousie on the night of Saturday, November 23. After working at the tug with the aid of several tugs and a couple of pontoons for several weeks Wilson succeeded in getting the vessel into the harbor of Port Dalhousie.
A determined effort was made to pass the tug through the lock of the new Welland Canal, but for several hours' labor the wrecking crew had to give up and the tug now lies at the bottom of the canal. Not a trace has been found of the bodies of Capt. Harry Dunlop, Albert Dunlop, the engineer, and Albert Christmas, who lost their lives in the sinking of the tug.
