REPORTED ASHORE. -- The schooner ALDEBARAN, which left Buffalo a few days since to load on Lake Erie shore, is reported on the beach near Point au Pelee. She is owned in Buffalo and assistance may be sent to her from that port. --- Detroit Post.
Thursday, October 5, 1876
A telegram to Captaim Thomas Maytham says that the tug H. G. NOLTON, which went to the relief of the schooner ALDEBARAN, ashore near Point au Pelee, is at Grand haven for shelter. The vessel is reported lying broadside on the beach, with eight feet of water outside and as much inside. The expedition on the NOLTON will commence operations as soon as the wind subsides.
