A private dispatch received this morning from Detroit by vessel Broker John L. Crosthwaite states that the unknown vessel reported in distress in Lake Huron, off Lexington, was the schooner BELLE HANSCOM, and that she had foundered. The HANSCOM was built in Toledo in 1874. She was of 280 tons register, rated A 2, and was valued at about $6,000.
