The New Iron Steamship REYNOLDS of Toledo Beached and Still Burning.
Colchester, Ont., Nov. 4. -- When abreast of Colchester lighthouse last evening about 8 o'clock the new iron steamship REYNOLDS of Toledo was discovered to be on fire between decks the full length of the vessel. Communication with her coal bunkers was cut off so that in consequence she had to be beached half a mile west of Hackett's dock, where she still lies, though in bad shape, having pounded on the rocks all night. Her decks are hove up several feet. The sea has gone down and the vessel now lies easy awaiting assistance. The fire is still burning. The REYNOLDS belongs to the Lake Erie Transportation Co. and the Wabash Railroad. Her cargo consists of 1600 tons of hard coal and 400 tons of miscellaneous freight. The fire caught among a quantity of jute of oakum stored between decks.

After all the steamer REYNOLDS is not very badly damaged. She is safe in Toledo and Capt. McLeod telegraphs Smith, Davis & Co., that beyond a few deck plates warped she is sound. He thinks the damage will amount to $5,000.
