BOATS COLLIDE.
      The Excursion Steamer PILGRIM Ran Into the Steam Yacht DIXIE Off Ferry Street.
      The "DIXIE" Passengers Safely Landed by the PILGRIM--No Lives Lost,
      The steamer PILGRIM ran Into the steamer DIXIE, apposite the Foot ol Ferry Street, at 3 o'clock this alternoon. The `DIXIE was badly damaged, havlng a big hole knocked in her side.
      About 20 people were on board the DIXIE and when the collision occurred a wild scene followed.
      Two or three persons grabbed life preservers and jumped into the river. Men yelled and women screamed, and the greatest confusion ensued for a few mInutes. The crews of the Iwo boats vainly endeavored to quiet the people, assuring them there was no danger.
      After some dltflculty the PILGRIM was brought around and alongside the sinking DIXIE and the excited passengers were taken on the PILGRIM.
      They were then transferred to the Ferry Street dock. No lives were lost, those who jumped Into the water being rescued.
      The DIXIE sank in less than three minutes after the last passenger was taken off.
      The tug INTERNATIONAL put out from her dock and her crew assisted In rescuing the passengers floundering In the river.
      The DIXIE was a small boat. Her value was about $3,000. She made trips between Ferry Street and Navy Island.
      One woman whose name was not learned jumped Into the water and was rescued by the crew of the tug.
      A large crowd collected on the docks, and banks of the river and witnessed the excitIng scenes.
