Painesville, Sept. 13. -- In the storm a large steam barge broke loose and drifted against the steamer PEARL, breaking her fastenings, when she drifted out into the lake. There were but three or four of her officers or crew on board, but not enough to manage her, and she drifted at the mercy of the waves, which were running high, for two hours, when she went ashore about forty rods east of the piers. The captain jumped to the dock, and one fireman, in making the same attempt, was drowned. Two or three women, the mate, and one fireman, who remained on board were rescued by the life boat after the steamer went ashore. The PEARL now lies easy on a sandy beach.
LATER -- The PEARL is ashore, but not in danger of going to pieces.

THE PEARL. -- The PEARL lies upon the beach in about three feet of water. She has but little water in her and has sustained slight damage. The ALASKA went down Saturday but could not go near enough to do her any good. She will be got off today if possible.
