PASSENGERS SAVED FROM BURNING BOAT.
Chicago, Oct. 27. -- A dispatch to the Tribune from Detroit says: Missing its way in a smoke pall over Georgian Bay on Saturday, the steamer IROQUOIS, with 17 passengers and a crew of five, smashed on West Rock and caught fire from an overturned stove. The persons aboard owe their lives to a rafting tug. There was a sea running which made the lowering of lifeboats impossible. Back of the vessel in the smoke was the rafting tug. The IROQUOIS whistled for aid, and the tug dropped its log boom, came steaming through the smoke and took all those on the IROQUOIS aboard.
