A statement has just been given for publication by Gen. Strong, superintendent of the Sturgeon Bay ship canal company, of which the following is a summary: Since the opening of the canal in 1879, 7,238 vessels, having a combined tonnage of 1,786,671, passed through the canal to October 1. Up to that date this year, 2,015 vessels, aggregating 493,781 tons, have paid toll.
