While attempting to make the harbor at Grand Marais for shelter from the heavy gale yesterday the tow line of the barge SAVELAND was parted from her sister consort, the barge BUFFALO, while being towed by the steamer GETTYSBURG, and the vessel was driven on the beach. After much difficulty the grand Marais lifesaving crew reached the stranded vessel and rescued the crew of six men and one woman. The SAVERLAND is in a bad position and may go to pieces. The steamer GETTYSBURG and the barge BUFFALO reached port in safety.
