Full Text

On December 7, 1885 the MARY S. GORDON, a Kincardine craft of 82 tons, went on the rocks off Chantry Island with 1,000 packages of fish. The Port Elgin tug ALICE BROOKS tried to release the stranded schooner only to be herself caught by a violent sea and totally wrecked. The tugs JAMES CLARK and EVENING STAR recovered most of the GORDON's cargo and part of the outfit of both vessels.
