Boscobel (Propeller), collision, 1 Oct 1882

Description
Full Text

The damage to the steam barge TEMPEST by her collision with the BOSCOBEL's tow is very serious and the cost of repairs will be heavy. It is stated that the BOSCOBEL will be libelled. many disinterested people maintain however, tha the BOSCOBEL was not in the least to blame, that she was blowing her screech tune at the time of the accident, and that the officers of the TEMPEST knew it was a tow, but that they made a miscalculation as to how long the tow was, how fast the BOSCOBEL was moving, and how fast the TEMPEST was moving.
