Montreal, Canada, Oct. 30. -- The steamer St. FRANCIS sunk in the Lachine rapids last evening and will be a total loss. She had fifty passengers, who were landed and spent the night on an island. The vessel cost $40,000 and was worth $20,000. The bow is eighteen inches under water, and the stern is in twenty feet.
