Unique in the history of lake marine has been the experience of the big steamer ROBERT W.E. BUNSEN on her present trip. The first of the series of mishaps came Monday afternoon when the BUNSEN crashed into the barge CHAMPION opposite Algonac, sending her to the bottom in half an hour later. The crew were saved. There was practically no damage to the BUNSEN, after unloading her ore cargo on Lake Ereie the BUNSEN again entered the St. Clair River on Thursday on her way up. Near Bedore's Resort the schooner SPADEMAN, bound down in tow of the steamer SICKEN was encountered, and shortly after the unfortunate vessel was on the bottom of the river with a big hole in her side. The BUNSEN continued on her way up the river. No one on the SPADEMAN was lost. A peculiar feature of the two collisions is that both boats were sunk a few miles of each other.
