Description
Full Text

Fire was discovered in the schooner F.B. GARDNER at noon yesterday while she was being towed up Lake Huron by the propeller D. LEUTY. The LEUTY immediately ran alongside the GARDNER and the crews of both boats fought the flames until it was seen the boat was doomed. Her crew was taken on the LEUTY and the GARDNER soon went down. The burned boat lies two miles from shore and seven miles above Sanilac. The tops of her spars sticking above water. She is directly in the course of vessels and constitutes a dangerous obstruction to navigation. The GARDNER was owned by J.C. Pringle of St. Clair, Mich., and was built in 1855.
