BARGE FOSTER'S CREW HAD NARROW ESCAPE.
Tonawanda, Oct. 24. -- Capt. William Johnson, who was master of the barge FOSTER, wrecked with its consort WAYNE, in a recent storm on Lake Superior, has arrived at his home in Towanda. Capt. Johnson came down the lake on the steamer BARTH, which with the wrecked boats it was towing, were caught in the storm that carried them on the rocks and threatened death to the crews of the WAYNE and FOSTER. Through the heroic efforts of the crew of the BARTH the sailors on the stranded boats were saved.
