The steambarge Thos. H. Smith made excellent time in the passage from Manitowoc to this port last week. She left the former port about the middle of the afternoon of Thursday, and arrived here about seven hours afterwards. When it is taken into account that her machinery is all new throughout, and carried only about forty pounds of steam, it will be admitted that the new craft did remarkably well on her maiden trip.
