Capt. Chas. Gnewuch was last week compelled to give up the command of the steambarge Edward Buckley on account of illness and the boat is in charge of Capt. Peter Marsh. Capt. Gnewuch was taken to his home at Manistee, and is said to be in a very critical condition. His ailments are due to gall stones and its is reported that the gallant old skipper will be obliged to retire from active service on the lakes.
