Exports

Some people may imagine the export trade of Meaford is rather insignificant. An instance of a single day’s export last week will demonstrate the contrary.

On Thursday the Frances Smith took out ten tons of pearl ash from Mr. J & W Stewart’s factory; 1300 bushels barley for the same firm; 77 hogs for Mr. W. A. Brown & Bros. And two of Barbers celebrated water wheels manufactured by Barber & Harris at their foundry here – value $500 – the one for Ailsa Craig, the other for Orillia. The boat lay four hours at the dock taking on the cargo.
