The Schooner Mountaineer was driven on the shore at Griffith Island on Wednesday night last. She had no cargo. The crew arrived in Owen Sound on Friday.

Last Monday a horrible accident occurred on board the Frances Smith, whereby the first engineer lost his life. The Smith is being laid up for the winter at the Peel street Dock and about twelve o’clock noon the above named day, Mr. Isaiah Davis, the first engineer gave orders to Mr. Frank Young, the second engineer, to move he boat a couple of turns ahead, as she was lying a little too far down.
