Steamboat Meeting

Mr. Moberly of Barrie, . Came last week and called a meeting which was very respectably attended by the business men of this town at May's Hotel on Monday evening to consider the propriety of taking stock in the steamer Kaloolah. Mr. Moberly stated that $12, 000 of stock at Collingwood and $8000 at Penetanguishene had been taken, and was anxious that $8000 of stock (the amount required to complete the purchase of this boat) might be taken up in Owen Sound. Captain Smith of the Oxford was present and stated that he intended putting the Canadian which would run from Owen Sound to Collingwood Harbour in three hours on this route in the spring. The feeling of the meeting which is sustained by the town generally being in favour of Mr. Smith's Canadian the Kaloolah project fell through. - Owen Sound Comet
